Angela Jo Grannan, 60, of Wichita Falls, passed away Friday, January 30, 2026, in Wichita Falls, Texas, at her home after a 15-year battle with cancer. Those who were blessed to run this race alongside her will know she did not lose her battle with cancer. Angela truly “fought the good fight and finished the race.” Through it all, she “kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7).
Angela was born May 8, 1965, in Seymour to Jannett and Boyd Felton Mayers. She graduated from Seymour High School in 1983, where she became the glue of her infamous “Sensational Seven” friend group. She attended Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls.
Angela had two twin boys, Adam and Samuel, on May 15, 1995. She married Mark Grannan January 26, 2017. They celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary in 2026.
Angela was often referred to by friends and family as a warrior. She persevered through marathons, a bicycle ride from Houston to New Orleans, and a hike from rim-to-rim-to-rim at the Grand Canyon, all while battling cancer. She was also a two-time finisher of the Boston Marathon and a phenomenal tennis player.
Her light spread far beyond the realm of sport. Angela’s spirit could bring a hermit out of their house and back to the living, or put the biggest smile on the most bitter person’s face (or at least just tell them to “quit their whining”). She could turn anyone’s life around.
The pride and joy of her life were her sons, Sam and Adam, whom she often bragged about to her friends. There truly wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do to make sure they were safe, happy, and successful. When her cancer began to progress, she was told multiple times she “only had months to live.” But she was not going to miss the greatest moments of their life even if, as she often said, “it harelips the governor.”
She was there for both their graduations in 2018, and their weddings — Sam’s in 2021 and Adam’s in 2024. Even at the end, when a hospice nurse said she only had a few hours left, she waited a few more days so she could see her sons one final time.
Angela was preceded in death by her mother, Jannett Mayers, and her father, Boyd Felton Mayers. She is survived by her two children and their wives, Samuel and Monica Sutton of Fredericksburg, Texas, and Adam and Tamra Sutton of Fort Worth, Texas; her husband, Mark Grannan of Wichita Falls, Texas; and her brother and his wife, Jimmy and Kathy Mayers of Olney, Texas.
Her funeral will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, at First Baptist Church, located at 420 N. Washington St., Seymour. Burial will follow in the Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home in Seymour. A 5K run/walk in her honor will take place at 8 a.m. that same day on the Wichita Falls Circle Trail at Lucy Park.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in her name to the Project Athena Foundation at projectathena.org/make-a-donation.
