Billie Frances (Hulcy) Goodwin, 81, a longtime resident of Seymour went to be with her savior on Saturday, March 31, 2018 in Wichita Falls.
Services will be held Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church with Larry Mays officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
Billie was born November 21, 1936 in Seymour to (Jack) Willie Dee Alford Hulcy and Georgia Lee (Walker) Hulcy. She was baptized as a young girl at the Calvary Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her father, Jack Hulcy on Dec. 13, 1959; her mother, Georgia on Oct. 2, 1991; a brother, Prentice Hulcy on Oct. 22, 1993; a great grandson, Mason Lee Goodwin on July 3, 2013; and her son-in-law, Fred Johnson, on Jan. 2, 2017.
Billie's first job was as a car hop at the Riverside Drive Inn across the river, while going to school. She was a waitress at Roddy's Café and Rock Inn Café. She worked at the Russell Newman Factory. She drove a Seymour school bus route for a year and the bus took the band to all the football games. She worked as a radio dispatcher for the Baylor County Sherriff's Office, that handles City Police, DPS, EMS calls and tending to the airport calls for several years, under four sheriffs. Then she worked in Seymour, Brownwood, Denton and Bryan, College Station and back to Seymour to retire as a telephone operator for GTE telephone. In 2005, Billie and her husband, Gene opened the Panther Kitchen Drive Inn in Seymour. Billie was a dedicated wife, mother, grandma and friend. She loved to make quilts, sew, do crafts, crochet and work in her yard. One of Billie's great enjoyments in life was watching her great grandson, #63, Mason Goodwin, play football.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Gene Goodwin of Seymour; 2 daughters, Debra Johnson of Seymour and Gina Anz and husband, Jim of Olney; a grandson, Audie Lynn Goodwin of Seymour; 3 great grandchildren, Nicolas Tyler Goodwin, Vanessa Ann Goodwin and AJ (Audie Lynn) Goodwin; and 1 great great grandchild, Mason Tyler Goodwin.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the Seymour VFD, the Seymour EMS or the Baylor County Library.
