Bobby Jerrill Robertson, 90, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025 surrounded by the family he adored.
Services will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Seymour. Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
Bobby was born in Iowa Park Texas, along with his twin brother Jackie, on January 2, 1935 to Jack and Annie Grammer Robertson.
In 1953, he graduated from Valley View High School in Kamay, TX where he was named Best Athlete his senior year. He attended Draughn’s Business College, completing his certification in electronics.
Shortly before his high school graduation, on May 21, 1953, he and Ruby Phillips, with the help of her oldest brother, eloped and were married in Archer City, Texas. They returned home and lived with their respective families without sharing this pertinent information for a couple of weeks, until another of Ruby‘s brothers could no longer keep his mouth shut.
Bobby went to work for United Electric in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he learned the tedious skill of rewinding electric motors. When Carl Snyder became acquainted with Bobby and the work he did there at United, he asked him to start a motor rewinding department at his business. So in 1957, Bobby, Ruby, and Lana moved to Seymour, Texas. Bobby worked for Snyder Electric for about 9 years and on April 1, 1966, he opened Robertson Electric, which is still in business today, owned by his grandson, Landon.
Bobby was a member of the Seymour Lion’s Club and served as a trustee on the Seymour ISD School Board. He was a member of his beloved church, the Seymour Church of Christ, where he served as an elder for 37 years.
Bobby was honest, hard-working, always happy, and never complained about anything. He was a stellar athlete in football, basketball, and track, a role model, a family man, and above all else, a Christian. He loved people and wasn’t afraid to tell them that. He wanted to study the Bible with anyone who would sit down long enough to listen, and he readily shared his love of the Lord with friends, family, and strangers alike.
One day a couple of weeks before his first stroke, he decided to plan his entire funeral, and chose his pall bearers, ministers, scriptures and songs. He included a note at the end that read, “ All of our family has a great love for each other. Our grandchildren-in-laws, Angela, Jake, Hanna, Nadine, and Nathan, you are family as well. We have the best girls, the best sons-in-law, the best grandchildren, and best great grands. Ruby, I love you. See y’all in Heaven!”
Bobby lost his mother, Annie Robertson, when he was only 23 years old. He was also preceded in death by his father, Jack Robertson, and a stepmother, Lillian Robertson.
Survivors include:
His wife of 72 years, Ruby; Three daughters and husbands, Lana and Loy Studer of Seymour, Lisa and Rusty Rose of Stephenville, Texas, and Lynann and Brad Stewart of Seymour; his twin brother, Jackie Robertson of Midland; Seven grandchildren, Cody & Angela Rose, Craig & Nadine Rose, Lyndsey Haberman, Caytlin & Nathan Waggoner, Landon & Hanna Studer, Tyler & Jake Myers, and Layni Stewart; 12 great-grandchildren, Kinley & Jaxson Rose, Will & Charlie Haberman, Evie Kate, James & Claire Rose, Calli & Reid Waggoner & Aaron & Adam Studer, Mayson Myers and great-grand #13, Baby Rose on the way.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a ministry that was dear to him, Eastern European Ministries, 777 Lonesome Dove Trail, Hurst, TX 76054.
