Brent Clifton Graves

March 17, 1960 — October 22, 2023

Weatherford, Texas

On Sunday, October 22, 2023, while surrounded by his beloved family, Brent Clifton Graves, age 63, passed away from this life and went home to be with Jesus.

Services will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Seymour Church of Christ with Royce Miller and John Adams officiating.  Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Brent was born on March 17, 1960 in Seymour to John and Hutchison Imogene Graves.  He graduated from Seymour High School and Texas State Technical Institute.  He then went on to work at Brazos Electric Power Cooperative in Weatherford, Texas for 42 years.  Brent married Karen Kay Frank on June 4, 1982 in Seymour and they welcomed four children over the course of their marriage.  Brent described Karen as his soulmate; together, they enjoyed a long and happy marriage of 41 years.

Brent was a man of great faith, instilling the love of Jesus Christ in his children and countless others.  It would surprise many to know that Brent was not born a Christian, and it was his wife, Karen, who helped bring Brent to Jesus.  In turn, Brent brought many others to Christ, including his parents.

Brent was most at home farming in Seymour.  He farmed for most of his life, first alongside his father, and later, he continued to operate the family farm after his father’s passing.  Brent loved the community, the lifestyle and the land of Seymour.

Brent recently returned home to Seymour following his retirement.  He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in July 2023 and fought a fierce battle until the very end.  Even throughout his illness, his focus was on taking care of his family.

Brent was the patriarch of his family, and his guidance and love will be sorely missed.  Though he is no longer on earth, Brent’s impact on the lives of others is eternal and his legacy will live on in perpetuity through his family and those he brought to Christ.

Brent is survived by his wife, Karen Graves; his four children and their spouses, Kyle and Elissa Graves, Brian and Caitlin Graves, Natalie and Taylor Cooke and Scott and Jessica Graves; his brother, Dwayne and Pam Graves; his sister, Beverly and Terry Plummer and nine grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial to Sonshine Days in care of the Seymour Church of Christ.
