Carl was born May 14, 1931 on a sandy land cotton farm in the Sunset community of Knox County, Texas to Carl Edward and Ethel Beatrice Ewing Kisinger, and grew up in Red Springs. He was a 1948 graduate of Seymour High School and attended North Texas State College from 1948 to 1950. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1951, where he served on the U.S.S. Antietam in the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954. After leaving the Navy, he went back to college at North Texas State where he received his BA in 1955. While he was a student there, he met his future wife, Syble Jo Reid. He and Syble were married on October 8, 1955 at Grace Temple Baptist Church in Denton and were blessed with four children: Mitchell, Michael, Mark and Carla.

After marrying, the couple moved to Odessa where he worked for Sperry Sun, Inc., moving to Fountain Valley, California in 1970 and then to Sugar Land, Texas in 1974, retiring in 1986. In 1991, Carl and Syble moved into their new home in Seymour, Texas.

He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member of the Antietam Association, a deacon at the Red Springs Baptist Church and a Sunday School teacher to Senior Adults.

He was preceded in death by his son, Mitchell Kisinger; his parents, Carl and Ethel Kisinger, brothers, Vernon and John Kisinger and sisters, Mildred Barker, Juanice Worsham and Gloria Dean.

He is survived by his loving wife, Syble Kisinger; his children, Michael and Heather Kisinger, Mark and Joy Kisinger and Carla and Lloyd Brice; his younger sister, Shirley Kisinger Reynolds; two grandsons, three granddaughters and seven great grandchildren. Carl loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren immensely and he will be remembered for his work ethic; sense of commitment to his family and his dry sense of humor.
