Carl Miles

Carl Miles, 82 of Vernon passed away Saturday, December 26, 2020 in Vernon.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in the Eastview Cemetery in Vernon with Ron Fox, officiating under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Carl was born May 24, 1938 in Jacksboro to R.W. and Betty Lee Miles.  He was a graduate of Vernon High School and joined the U.S. Army following graduation.  Carl worked in the oil field for 13 years before beginning his career in law enforcement.  He was the former Chief of Police in Seymour, then moved to Vernon where he was a Captain with the Vernon Police Department.  He also worked security at the Vernon State Hospital.  He married Linda J. Ming on August 1, 1963 in Vernon.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda on April 4, 2015 and a son, Lance Clayton Miles in 1970.

Survivors include a son, Lorrin Miles of Fayetville, NC; 2 daughters, Libby Tidwell and Lana Hopkins both of Vernon; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
