Carolyn Sue Howry

On Friday, October 9, 2026, Carolyn Sue Offutt Howry was called home by our Lord and Savior to her eternal resting place.

Carolyn was 77 years old, born on May 30, 1949. She was born in Knox City, Texas to Grace Marie Tomlinson Offutt and Floyd Garrett Offutt Jr. Carolyn had two siblings, younger sister Wanda Offutt Harrington, and younger brother Glenn Offutt.

She married Jimmy Alvin Howry on October 27, 1967. They were married 58 years. Together they had two children, a daughter, Diedra “Michelle” Howry Tilley, and a son, Jimmy “Scott” Howry.

Carolyn worked for Seymour Hospital as an LVN, then RN, collectively for 25 years. Carolyn was truly an exceptional nurse. She touched so many lives of those she worked with and cared for. Carolyn was a mentor to many of her colleagues, passing her knowledge and skills on to others. Carolyn was a very opinionated person, so much so that she had many nicknames such as Sarg, Capn’, and a few others we won’t mention. One thing’s for certain, you were in good hands with her as your nurse.

Carolyn enjoyed sewing and quilting as her hobbies. She made the most beautiful Christmas stockings for each of her children, her children’s spouses, grandchildren, their spouses, along with her great grandchildren as her family grew. She also made many beautiful throws and quilts for her loved ones to treasure for years to come.

Carolyn was a Mimi to 5 grandchildren, Kristen Tilley Duncan, Kaleigh Howry Shipman, Bailli Howry, Garrett Howry, and Braden Howry, along with 3 great grandchildren, Kensi Shipman, Brenleigh Shipman, and Stetson Shipman.

She is proceeded in death by her father Floyd Garrett Offutt Jr., mother Grace Marie Tomlinson Offutt, husband Jimmy Alvin Howry, son-in-law Brad Tilley, grandson Garrett Howry, granddaughter Bailli Howry, and great granddaughter Brenleigh Shipman.

Visitation will be held Friday October 16, 2026 at Archer Funeral home in Seymour, TX at 6 o’clock in the evening till 7 o’clock.

Services will be held graveside on Saturday October 17, 2026 at Henson Cemetery in Red Springs, TX at 10 o’clock in the morning with Joe Mack Petit officiating, under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Carolyn will be forever cherished and missed deeply by all who knew and loved her.
