Charlie Tate

Charlie Tate, 86, of Seymour passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017 in Seymour.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., in the Riverview Cemetery with Benny Archer officiating under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Charlie was born February 3, 1931 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Virgil and Alice Goosby Tate. He attended school in Knox County. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War. He received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. As a young man, Charlie farmed, worked on ranches and was a jockey for a while. He also worked for Shell Oil Co. in the oilfield.

He is survived by Nancy Robertson of Seymour; a daughter, Kimberley Dawn Tate of Dallas and 3 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
