Coy Randolph “Randy” Barnett, 86 of Benjamin, passed from this life to his Heavenly home on Saturday, January 24, 2026 in Abilene.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., at the Frist Baptist Church in Benjamin. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Archer Funeral Home, Seymour, Tx.
Randy was born November 29, 1939 in Hefner to Howard and Naomi Smith Barnett. He was raised in Benjamin, where he attended school until midterm of his junior year, leaving after football season and moving to Baytown, Texas, where he graduated. He attended college in Baytown. He served as a staff sergeant in the Texas Air National Guard for 6 years. Randy worked for Chocolate Bayou Plant which later became OxyChem, then finally Cain Chemical. While working, he studied for his API inspection certification and was on the emergency response team. Randy was a great inspector and loved the guys he worked with. He loved Benjamin and returned there to live upon his retirement. He was a member of the Benjamin Baptist Church where he was baptized as a young boy. Randy married Judy Roberson Conner on June 7, 2002 in Benjamin. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Barnett in October of 2000; his parents, Howard and Naomi Barnett; his siblings, Betty Jo Riggs and Jerrell Barnett’ a nephew, Greg Culver and a great nephew, Justin Rogers.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Barnett of Benjamin; a son, Richard Randolph “Rusty” and Alice Barnett of College Station, Texas; 2 step-sons, Jeff and Brandi Conner of Wolfforth and Jim Bob and Jenny Conner of Lubbock; a brother, Dickie and Cathy Barnett of Mont Belvieu; a sister, Patricia and Richard Culver of Brenham; 10 grandchildren. 1 great granddaughter, 1 great grandson and 1 great great granddaughter.
Pallbearers will be Peter Barnett, Cayden Conner, Charlie Conner, Jesse Dillman, Chase Dillman and Stetson Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommy McGilvray, Larry Birdsong, Carl Murdock, Mark Kuehler, Charles Jones and Charles Griffith.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial to the Wichita Brazos Museum, Benjamin, Texas or Hendricks Hospice, Abilene, Texas.
