During the next 6 years while, grandpa worked to provide- the three girls lived at Milam Children’s Home- Lillian Milam affectionately known as Mammaw played a large role in what molded the woman she became- the love of God and studying the Bible was one of those many lifelong lessons. Darlene was baptized at the age of 13 and continued the rest of her life to trust in her Lord and strive to bring others to Christ., She attended middle school and beginning high school in Lubbock- then moved to Amherst- It was during her senior year , she eloped with the love of her life Leon Hagle. The family moved to Throckmorton in 1972, Leon purchased a house and then covered it in gorgeous rock work - she knew this was their forever home.

May you always smile and remember How Jesus Loves all 1 John 4:7 “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.” She also taught Ladies Bible Class and has many notes on lessons she enjoyed studying over the years.
Darlene loved the outdoors- especially the sunrise and sunset- when she’d see a beautiful sunrise filled with lots of colors she’d say- “ it’s a Miss Foster morning look at God’s majesty. She was an avid bird watcher and was partial to the cardinals and the hummingbirds. Some of her favorite trips included seeing Gods wonders in nature - Carlsbad Caverns, Zion National Park, Glacier National Park, Caddo Lake, Grand Canyon, the Garden of the Gods Darlene made changes to her Christmas decor in 1994 replacing the villages with Santa Claus so her grandchildren could always feel the magic and love of family and friends gathering for the holiday season.
