David Kornelson Reimer, 80, was called home on Sunday, October 26, 2025, in Wichita Falls, TX, surrounded by family. David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. David lived a full life that centered first and foremost around his Creator.
Services will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Seymour, Texas. David will be laid to rest in Spanish Lookout, Belize.
David was born in Winnipeg, Canada on June 22, 1945, to parents, Peter R.E. Reimer and Katharina Kornelson – the youngest of nine children. At age four David and his family moved to Chihuahua, Mexico where he attended primary school and his passion for Ranchera music and the accordion began. Shortly after, at the age of 13, David and his family moved to British Honduras (now known as Belize) where they were some of the first pioneers to develop and expand the Mennonite farming community which is now known as Spanish Lookout.
At the age of 17, David worked for the U.S. Army in the northern Artic region of Canada on the Distance Early Warning Line (DEW Line). The DEW Line was built during the Cold War to detect incoming bombers of the former Soviet Union and this experience showcased David’s many skills, talents and knowledge. Following this, David began working for the trucking company, Reimer Express Lines, fueling a life-long enthusiasm for driving.
Later, David returned to Belize, founding Reimer Farm & Auto Supply and began to grow his multiple businesses and family. In the late 1970s, David expanded his business to U.S. where he had the opportunity to spend a significant amount of time in Seymour, Texas. During this period, David found great joy in the small community of Seymour and split his time between Seymour and Spanish Lookout.
In August 2002, David went on the Walk to Emmaus and as his faith grew he joined the First Baptist Church of Seymour. Some of David’s greatest joys in life were driving the church van, attending Men’s Breakfast and regularly participating in his Emmaus reunion group.
Later in life David would regularly be seen getting his morning coffee at Super Stop in Seymour or Western Dairies in Spanish Lookout. He was stubborn, wise, nostalgic, a history buff and always cracking one-liners. He loved harmonies and gospel music, watching Westerns, playing his accordion, repeating stories, road-trips, eating Belizean rice & beans, and spending time with his family. He will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
David was proceeded in death by his mother and father; siblings Elizabeth, Mary, Susanna, Jacob, Martha, Ben and Peter; first spouse Lisa Wolfe; son Johnny; and grandchild Dwight.
David is survived by his wife Jo; sibling Katherine Reimer; seven children and their spouses, daughter-in-law Rose Reimer, Tina & Peter Friesen, Anita & Jake Letkeman, Abe & Griselda Reimer, Issac & Eva Reimer, Linda and Dennis Friesen, Ashley & Zuber Allibhoy, and Loraina & Cody Meyers; 24 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family of David extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered prayers, kind words, meals, visits and support during this difficult time. Your love and compassion have brought us great comfort and will never be forgotten.
