Donald Ray Gregg, 84, of Seymour passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Don was born on November 9, 1940, in Decatur, Texas, to Floyd and Faye Gregg. He graduated from Bowie High School in 1958. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1960 and later, the National Guard. He rose to the rank of Command Sergeant Major. Don earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Midwestern State University.

On June 1, 1968, Don married Jayme Vineyard in Terrell, Texas. They lived there for a year before moving to Seymour, where they would make their home. He went to work for B-K Electric Cooperative and became general manager, a position he held until his retirement in 2004.

Don was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Lions Club, the Masonic Lodge, and the Boy Scouts of America. During his time at B-K/Tri-County, he also served on the Board of Directors for both Brazos Electric and San Miguel Electric.

He had a passion for fossil hunting. In 2008, the Smithsonian Institution named a fossil species after him that he had discovered in Baylor County. As published in the International Journal of Plant Sciences, Comia greggii honors Donald R. Gregg of Seymour, Texas, whose assistance materially advanced the study of fossil plants and animals in north-central Texas.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew, Erin Gregg; and his beloved wife, Jayme, on May 29, 2016.

He is survived by his daughter, Janice Peters and her husband, Craig, of Seymour; grandsons, Callan of Lubbock, Texas, and Cade of Seymour, Texas; his brother, James Richard Gregg of Kerrville, Texas; and his niece, Kerry Ferguson and her husband, Brett, along with their family.

The family requests donations be made to the First United Methodist Church in Seymour or Hospice of Wichita Falls.
