Gary Lee Vita, 63, of Seymour, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2015 in Seymour.

Funeral Mass will be Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Albert Kanjirathumkal, officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Gary was born June 5, 1951 in Seymour to Julius and Margaret Birkenfeld Vita. He was a 1969 graduate of Seymour High School. Gary co-owned Vita Auto Parts with his brother, Jim, retiring in 2005, when his son purchased the business. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a former member of the Seymour Bass Club. Gary was involved in the Fish Day Activities, helping organize the kid's fishing competition. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Margaret Vita and his brother, Jim Vita.

Survivors include his son, Bubba Vita and wife, Ann Marie of Seymour; 2 daughters, Gloria Vita of Possum Kingdom and Ginger Vita and husband, Ronnie of Seymour; 1 sister, Janice Vita Thornhill of Seymour; his former wife and friend, Karen Vita of Seymour; 2 nieces, Casey Gibbs and Robin Dalton; 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
