Glenn Earl Melton, 76 of Seymour, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2026 in Wichita Falls.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Seymour with Dillon Fox officiating. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
Glenn was born on February 2, 1950 in Haskell to Elmer Hiram and Muriel Alice Strickland Melton. He moved to Seymour when he was 19 years old and farmed with his brother. Glenn also worked at the Compress in Seymour in the 1970s and early 80s, and the Cotton Gin. He went to work for the City of Seymour in 1989, retiring after 27 years. He enjoyed having people come out to see him and visiting with them. He loved helping people when they needed it. He enjoyed mowing yards in his spare time. When he wasn't doing that, he enjoyed going fishing.
Glenn married Linda Johnson in October of 1972. In this union he had his children, Susan and Jerry. They later divorced. In August of 1987, he married Jan Marsh. They later divorced, but remained good friends.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Wayne Melton (Joy), and David Melton, 2 sisters, Betty Sparks (Raymond) and Joyce Melton, a son in law Gilbert Sims, 2 granddaughters, one great grandchild, 4 nephews, Larry, Stewart, Wendall, and Terry, and one great nephew Braxton.
He is survived by his daughter Susan Fulton and son Jerry Melton (Krista), 2 grandsons Thomas Sims (Misty) and Jaxon Melton, 2 granddaughters Stacia Melton-Heaton(Ryan), and Mackenzie Melton, 3 great grandchildren Kota Brantley, QuinnLynn Swopes, and Aurora Sims, step grandchildren Jeremy Fulton and Audrey Stuckey, great grandchildren, Stetsen, AJ, Connor, Collin, Bella, James, De'Leon, De'Lilah, De'LaMaury, Lylth, and Gio. Nephews Randy Sparks (Cindy), and Will Melton (Heather), nieces Paula Phillips (Tom) and Pam Mackenzie, Anita Sparks, Maria Sparks and Sandra Sparks, numerous great and great great nieces and nephews. Also, four step daughters Misty Hopkins, Marla Hill, Marti Hill and Donna Contraro.
