James Sturgeon

James Sturgeon, 87, of Seymour, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017 in Seymour.

Services will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., at the Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Old Seymour Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

James was born March 23, 1930 in Seymour to M.C. and Effie Green Sturgeon. He attended school in Seymour. James married Janelle Thorn on January 5, 1952 in Seymour. He retired from West Texas Culverts. James was a lifetime member of the Calvary Baptist Church where he served as the janitor for 50 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Hollis Sturgeon and Harley Sturgeon; and 4 sisters, Ethel Sturgeon, Mable Norwood, Wanda Lewis and Peggy Ann Foortan.

He is survived by his wife, Janelle Sturgeon of Seymou; 2 daughters, Cynthia White of Wichita Falls and Mitzi Torrez and husband, Austin of Seymour; a son, T.J. Sturgeon and wife, Tricia of Seyour; 5 grandchildren, Shad, Chris, Jessica, Catlin and Justin; 11 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Clovis Sturgeon of Payson, AZ and Wallace Sturgeon of Miama, AZ; 3 sisters, Evelina Carlock of Lubbock, Joyce Roberts of Ft. Worth and Barbara Sue Parker of Seymour.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Seymour Calvary Baptist Church.
