Janelle (Thorn) Sturgeon

Janelle Sturgeon, 87 of Seymour passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023 in Seymour.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Woodmen of the World Cemetery with Benny Archer officiating under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Janelle was born October 15, 1935 in Westover to John and Nevada Elam Thorn.  She attended Seymour Schools and married James E. Sturgeon on January 5, 1952.  Janelle worked as a clerk for Willet’s Variety Store and Bill’s Variety Store, as well as driving a bus for Sharp Lines.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James Sturgeon on May 14, 2017; her son, Thomas J. “T.J.” Sturgeon on May 19, 2022 and 3 brothers, Wesley Thorn, Roy Thorn and J.D. Thorn.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Cynthia White of Wichita Falls and Mitzi Torrez of Seymour; a brother, Jerry Thorn of Seymour; 5 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
