Jessie B Shumate

Jessie Belle Shumate, 84, of Seymour, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015 in Seymour.

Services will be held Friday, October 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., at the Red Springs Baptist Church with Rev. William Craig, officiating. Burial will be in the Henson Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Jessie Belle was born February 3, 1931 in Round Timber to Herschel and Addie Rowlett Graves. She married Johnny C. Shumate on August 23, 1950 in Odessa. He preceded her in death in November of 2007. She lived in Graham before coming to Seymour in May of 2014. She was a member of TOPS, the Graham Garden Club and the Graham Quilting Club. She was a member of the Graham First Baptist Church. Jessie Belle loved to travel and have people around. She always put her children and family first.

Survivors include 2 sons, John S. Shumate of Blueridge, Georgia and William H. Shumate of Denver, Colorado; a sister, Georgia Cooksey of Seymour; 3 grandchildren, Sawyer, Amber and Stephanie; 5 great grandchildren, Taylor, Sadie, Stephen, Ethan and Toby; and 1 great great grandchild, Landry.

The family suggests memorials to the Red Springs Community Center or the Red Springs Baptist Church.
