Joanne Key Farr, 93, passed away April 29, 2026.
Joanne was born December 5, 1932, in Throckmorton, Texas, to Delmon Wortham Key and Letha Bell Robison Key. She grew up in ranch country and carried those values—hard work, faith, and taking care of your neighbors—throughout her life. She graduated from Throckmorton High School.
She stayed busy and involved wherever she lived. Joanne served on local and state boards of the American Heart Association. She was a proud member of the Wichita Area CattleWomen and served as president. In Seymour, she was part of the Federated Woman’s Club, where she was honored as Outstanding Club Woman for the State of Texas.
Joanne believed in showing up and getting things done. She helped organize Crime Stoppers in Baylor County and was recognized by Governor Ann Richards for her work. She also co-chaired the Baylor County Sesquicentennial Committee and was recognized by Senator Ray Farabee. She served on the National Beef Checkoff Committee.
Her faith was steady and central in her life. Joanne was a member of the Seymour Methodist Church, where she served on committees and taught children’s Sunday school for many years.
She enjoyed time with friends at the Haskell Bridge Club and working part-time at the Personality Slipper Shoppe.
Joanne is survived by her daughter, Roberta Ann Wells; her grandson, Ryan Wharton Wells and wife Hailey of Stratford, Oklahoma; her sister, Beth Larned of Abilene, Texas; her brother, Billy Ray Key of Green Valley, Arizona; her chosen great-grandchildren, Kree Ownbey, Ivee Ownbey, Tagan Chambles, and Cassidy Chambles; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. “Bob” Farr; two brothers, Bobby Key and Glenn Key; and two sisters, Joyce Eastridge and Frances Greenway.
Joanne will be remembered as a strong, steady woman who loved her family, her community, and her way of life.
A memorial graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at 2 p.m. in the Masonic Cemetery in Seymour, under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
