This stemmed from riding the train with the soldiers. He made trips by himself as a small child because gas was rationed. Keith had great stories from Philmont Scout Ranch, NM where he & brother Kirk spent many summers. Yearly trips to Gunnison, Colorado were special because he could fly fish with Kirk. During high school summers, Keith went on wheat harvest from Frederick, Oklahoma to Miles City, Montana and retold stories about those summers over and over.
Keith taught math and science starting in 1964 for Carney Rural School O'Brien, Snyder, Weinert, Rochester and Old Glory, retiring in 1987. He farmed and ranched in the Rochester area from 1964 to 2019.
