Joyce Marie Burchett Evans, 84 of Seymour, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2023 in Seymour.

Services will be held on Monday, April 3, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. at the Harvest Christian Fellowship with Rev. Sonny Smart officiating.  Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2023 in the Belew Cemetery in Aubrey, Texas.  All arrangements are under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Joyce was born May 18, 1938 in Denton, Texas to Arnold Ogle and Ardenia Crabtree Burchett.  She attended Denton High School graduating in 1956.  Joyce married Paul Eugene Evans on July 14, 1957.  A year after marrying Paul, the couple went on their first mission on the Apache Reservation in White River, Arizona, where their first child, David was born in April of 1959.  Their daughter, Theresa was born four short years later in April of 1963.  Paul and Joyce then moved to the Navajo reservation and then after a few years there, in 1970, they went to language school to prepare them for their mission in Honduras, running an orphanage.  After leaving Honduras, they served a short mission for a year in Mexico.  The couple returned to the states where they went on to serve churches in Marble Falls, McKinney, Weatherford, Throckmorton and Seymour.  Joyce’s last position as pastor was in Throckmorton.  Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul on July 21, 2013.

She is survived by a son, David and Laura Evans of Seymour; a daughter, Theresa and Jason Ermis of Seymour; 2 brothers, Weldon Burchett and Herbert Burchett; a sister, Margaret Jo Herndon; 8 grandchildren, LaShone, Evan, Dustin, Jarrod, Krystalyn, Aaron, Addison and Joey and 5 great grandchildren, Saddler, Annabelle, Alex, David and Charlotte.

Visitation will be held form 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Monday at the church.
