Katie Carrington-Pritchard

September 23, 1953 — September 9, 2025

Seymour

Cynthia Kay “Katie” Carrington-Pritchard, 71, of Seymour, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, in Wichita Falls.

A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Seymour, with Rev. Russell Roberts officiating. Services are under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Katie was born on September 23, 1953, in Seymour to Willie and Delphine Copeland Carrington. A proud graduate of Seymour High School, she went on to attend Aladdins Beauty School, where she discovered her talent and passion for helping others look and feel their best. She owned and operated Cynthia’s Chateau of Beauty in Abilene for many years, serving others with care and kindness. Later, she worked for printing companies in Dallas and Lubbock, and as the Jewelry Manager at Kohl’s in Wichita Falls.

Katie eventually moved back to Seymour to lovingly care for her mother, Delphine, during her later years — a role she embraced with devotion and compassion. She continued to serve her community by working at Seymour Hospital until her retirement in 2022.

Katie’s life was defined by her selflessness, her quiet strength, and her deep, abiding faith in Jesus Christ. She was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church and lived her faith through service, kindness, and unwavering love for others.

One of her greatest blessings in life was being part of a big, close-knit family. Katie was one of seven siblings — four sisters and three brothers — and she absolutely adored every single one of them. Growing up in a bustling household brought endless laughter, shared stories, and a deep, unbreakable bond that lasted a lifetime. Her role as a sister was one she held dearly, and her love for her family was evident in everything she did.

Although she never had children of her own, Katie played a central role in the lives of her many nieces and nephews, who affectionately called her “Aunt Katie.” She nurtured, encouraged, and loved each of them in a way only she could. Among them all, one held an especially unique place in her heart — her nephew, Jaxon Carrington. From the time he was little, Katie helped care for him and became his surrogate grandmother. He lovingly called her “Kay-Kay,” a name that symbolized the deep, joyful bond they shared. Their connection was tender, special, and unshakable — Kay-Kay was his cheerleader, and his safe place.

Katie’s days were filled with the simple things she loved most: cheering for her Dallas Cowboys, listening to Elvis Presley, laughing with her siblings, and being surrounded by the people she loved. Her door and her heart were always open.

She is survived by her beloved siblings: brothers Trey and wife Linda Carrington of Throckmorton, Dennis Carrington, and Rance and wife Stormie Carrington, all of Seymour; sisters Judy Mitchell and Joy Bowling, both of Wichita Falls, and Linda Reddell of Munday. She also leaves behind her many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews — each one deeply loved — along with her sweet Jaxon, who will forever carry the memory of his Kay-Kay in his heart.

In addition to her family, Katie leaves behind a wide circle of dear friends, former coworkers, and church members who will miss her warm smile, generous heart, and unwavering friendship.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Katie’s life was a beautiful reflection of love, faith, family, and generosity. She touched the hearts of many and leaves behind a legacy of compassion, humility, and grace. Though her absence leaves an empty space, her spirit lives on in the countless lives she blessed along the way.
