Margaret Alice Cooper, 76 of Abilene, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026 in Seymour.

A Celebration will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at the Hillcrest Church of Christ Chapel, Abilene, Texas. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Archer Funeral Home, Seymour, Texas.

Margaret was born on December 8, 1949 in Hamlin to Wayman and Bonnie Windham Cooper. She graduated from high school in Big Spring and received a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from West Texas State University in Canyon and a Master’s in Music Education from Indiana State University. Margaret was a band director for numerous small schools in Texas and New Mexico, retiring in 2011. She was a member of the Abilene Community Band, the Sweet Adeline Chorus, sang with the Hillcrest Singers and was an honorary member of the Hardin Simmons University Cowboy Band. She was a faithful member of the Hillcrest Church of Christ. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Wayman and Bonnie Cooper and a brother, Danny Cooper.

She is survived by her two sisters, Elaine and Travis Bryant of Amarillo and Kim and Tim Nix of Seymour; 1 niece, 6 nephews and 10 great nieces and nephews.
