Margie Louise (Church) Adams

Margie Louise (Church) Adams, 98 of Seymour, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2022 in Seymour.

Services will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Seymour with Dr. David Warren officiating.  A Visitation will follow the services at the First Baptist Church.  Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at Restland Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas under the direction of Archer Funeral Home in Seymour.

Margie was born on September 2, 1923 in Bomarton, the oldest of six daughters born to Jessie James and Fannie Mae (Snyder) Church.  She married Barney Alvis Adams on April 9, 1943 in Wise, Texas.  Margie and Barney lived in Oak Cliff, a suburb of Dallas, after they were married, until they bought a house in Farmers Branch, another suburb of Dallas.  She worked in Dallas as a secretary from the 1940’s until she and Barney moved to their retirement home on Cedar Lake in the late 1980’s.  She lived there after her beloved husband, Barney, passed away in 1994, moving to Seymour in 2020 to be with her sisters and other family members.

Margie and Barney had a love of the outdoors and traveling, going on many camping trips throughout the United States.  They traveled on their own and with her sister, Doris and brother-in-law, Edward, and their family.  She visited many different states and countries with family, including a trip to Europe with her sister, Dixie and nephew, Larry and wife, Cynthia.  She and Barney loved the water and had ski and fishing boats throughout their lives that they shared with friends and family.

Margie was a devoted church member and acted as the treasurer for her church in Gun Barrel City for many years.  Even though Margie and Barney were never blessed with children, she readily adopted and loved all her nieces and nephews and their children.  For many years, she was the organizer for the Church family reunion in the summer that was originally held at their lake house in Gun Barrel City and then later, at Lake Grapevine.  She, and later her sister, Judy, worked hard to keep the Church family together over the years, after the passing of Jessie and Fannie Mae.  Margie was preceded in death by 3 of sisters, Alma Hicks, Patsy Lassiter and Judy Starr.

She is survived by 2 sisters, Doris Cooper of Dallas and Dixie Peacock of Seymour; a brother-in-law, Grady Hicks of Seymour; 15 nieces and nephews; numerous great and great great nieces and nephews.
