Maria Avila

Maria Avila, 70 of Seymour, passed from this life on Monday, December 22, 2025 in Wichita Falls.

Mass will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Seymour with Father Bose Jujuvarapu officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Maria was born on May 19, 1955 in San Felipe, Guanajuato, Mexico to Pedro and Apolonia Rodriguez Castro. She married Jesus Avila on May 15, 1976. She came to Seymour in 1980 where she worked as a housekeeper and the custodian of the church. She was a faithful member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Apolonia Castro; a sister, Juana Torrez and a son, Dario Avila.

She is survived by her husband, Jesse Avila of Seymour; a daughter, Ana Avila of Dallas; a son, Dario Avila of Pflugerville; 2 grandchildren, Reymundo Lopez-Avila and Luna Lopez-Avila and 5 siblings, Raul Castro, Pedro Castro, Salvador Castro, Irene Delgado and Socorro Macias.

Rosary will be held on Friday, December 26, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
