Mark Deon Oxford

Mark Deon Oxford, of Seymour, Texas departed this life on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the age of 62.

Mark was born on July 1, 1963, to Dave and Sue Oxford. He grew up in Benjamin, Texas, where he formed deep roots and lasting friendships that remained dear to him throughout his life. During his school years, Mark excelled in athletics and was especially proud of his All-Star status in six-man football, a testament to his determination, teamwork, and spirit.

Following his graduation from high school, Mark attended Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he pursued his education with focus and determination. His drive and dedication led him to an early and remarkable accomplishment—he became the youngest stockbroker Merrill Lynch had ever hired at that time. Mark’s success in his career was a reflection of his intelligence, work ethic, and unshakable commitment to excellence during his prime.

He enjoyed music, history, football, hunting with his dad and brother, and sharing a good fun fact with anyone willing to listen. Mark had a generous heart and would truly give the shirt off his back to help someone in need.

Though our hearts ache with loss, we take comfort in the many memories made and in the love that will forever keep him near.

He is survived by his daughter, Nikki Brandes, and her husband, Josh, and their two daughters, Nadia and Zelda, of Wichita, Kansas; his son, Matt Oxford, and wife, McKenna, of Ferndale, Michigan; his parents, Dave and Sue Oxford, of Seymour; his brother, Troy Oxford, and wife, Tauwalee, of Wichita Falls; his sister, SuLynn Latham, and husband, Teddy, of Levelland; and his ex-wife, Sandy Oxford, of Coppell. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 16th at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Seymour, Texas with Rev. Jay Gage officiating, where family and friends will gather to celebrate Mark’s life. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 15th at Archer Funeral Home in Seymour from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m. A private graveside service will be held for family. Services are under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Matt Oxford, Troy Oxford, Dylan Benson, Bill Benson, John Kinnibrugh and Jim Mancille.
