Mary J Shipman

Mary Joan Shipman, 80, of Seymour, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014 in Wichita Falls.

Services will be held Monday, May 12, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. , at the First Baptist Church with Dr. David Warren, officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery, under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Joan was born August 4, 1933 in Seymour to W.F. and Mary Pearl McCord Rhame. She was a graduate of Seymour High School. Joan married Orgie K. Shipman on September 29, 1950 in Wichita Falls. He died October 17, 2013. She was an active and longtime member of the First Baptist Church where she was the director of the Senior Adult choir for many years, served on the Benevolence Committee and was a member of the Coeds Sunday School Class. Joan was also preceded in death by her parents, W.F. and Mary Pearl Rhame and a brother, Earl Rhame.

Survivors include 2 sons, Kenny Shipman and wife, Pam of Seymour and Mike Shipman and wife, Jeni of Plano; 2 Sisters, Billie Johnson of Amarillo and Patricia Powell and husband, Bobby of Wichita Falls; 4 grandchildren, Kevin Shipman; Kelli Doley and husband, Robert; Jonathon Shipman and Megan Shipman; and 2 great grandsons, Noah and Eli Doley.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m., Sunday , at the funeral home
