Mike Flippin

Michael Troy Flippin passed from this life at his home in Seymour, Texas, on September 23, 2026, at the age of 81.

Mike was born on July 16, 1945, to Troy and Carmen Flippin. He was raised in Goree and Seymour, Texas, and graduated from Seymour High School in 1964. Following high school, Mike proudly served his country for two years in the United States Army.

After completing his military service, Mike began a long career in telecommunications. He worked for GTE for 30 years as a telecommunications specialist. Following his retirement from GTE, he continued working in the same field for another five years with Brazos Telephone Cooperative.

Mike and Kay Ann Simek were married on February 26, 1983, and enjoyed 43 years of marriage together.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Kay; his daughter, Lindsay Brasher and her husband, Corey, and their children, Lola and Layton; his son, Kent Flippin and his wife, Amy, and their children, Anika, Jacob, and Abbey; his sister, Karen Christian; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Mike enjoyed the simple things that made life good. He loved spending time on his boat and at the lake, especially water skiing. He enjoyed playing golf and cheering on his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. He also never missed an opportunity to get behind the wheel and drive the backroads of Baylor County with his good friends. Those drives, conversations, and friendships were among the things he treasured throughout his life.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, September 27, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Archer Funeral Home in Seymour, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 28, at the First Baptist Church in Seymour, Texas. Graveside services and burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Bomarton, Texas under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
