Tuesday morning, March 12, 2019, 75-year-old, Richard Wayne Bibb of Grand Prairie, Texas ran his final race as a rare and aggressive cancer took him home to glory. He was a true cowboy, born in Seymour, Texas on August 13, 1943, a 1961 graduate of Henrietta High School, the President of Jack Day Construction Company of Dallas, Texas from 1977 to 2013, and organizer of his neighborhood watch. He was known as "Pap" by his grandchildren, as he was larger than life with his boots and cowboy hat, a living Big Tex from the State Fair to them all. He never met a stranger, a hand-shake was his bond, and he was a star with all of the ladies at his over 55 gym. He enjoyed his time taking care of the horses at Lone Star Park as well as his own thoroughbreds at home and at the track over the years as much as he loved his dogs and his family.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Beverly Ragan Bibb, three adult children, Rick Bibb and wife, Emily of Arlington, Texas, Rhonda Hardisty and husband, Lesley of Boyd, Texas, and Roxanne Bradford and husband, David of Watauga, Texas, sisters Betsy Russell of Waxahachie, and Tommie Heller and husband, Royce of Abilene, Texas, 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, three dogs named Mace, Foxy, and Sandy, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Willie Jo Bibb of Arlington, Texas, his sister Sharon Kay Ricks of Grandview, Texas, and his brother David Bibb of Seymour, Texas.
Services will be held Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., at the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Roberts officiating. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorials to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch or the Seymour Calvary Baptist Church.
