Robert Curtis "Chuck" Townsend, 78, of Seymour, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016 in Seymour.
Services will be held on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 10:00 a.m., at the First Christian Church with Benny Archer officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 p.m., in the Merkel Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home, Seymour, Texas.
Chuck was born April 19, 1938 in San Angelo to John Aubrey and Zindra Violet Turner Townsend. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Chuck married Marjorie Jones on October 30, 1973. He came to Seymour 18 years ago, from Abilene. Chuck worked over 50 years as an auctioneer in the Big Country and Wichita Falls. He was a member of the Seymour VFW and the Church of Christ. He loved watching college and pro football, going to horse races, traveling to Ruidoso, N.M., working crossword puzzles and his dog "Chevy". Most of all, Chuck loved his wife. For the past 6 years, he went everyday to the nursing home to have lunch with her and feed her. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Roy and a step-son, Ricky Busby.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Townsend of Seymour; a daughter, Debra Valdez and husband, Johnny of Abilene; with his union to Marjorie, Chuck gained 5 more children, Mark Davis, Rodney Busby, Keith Davis, Dara Davis and Karen Davis; a brother, Alan Townsend of Colorado; 17 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
