Dennis Gilbreath Obituary

Dennis Gilbreath of Seymour, Texas went to his heavenly home on September 20, 2021 at Seymour Hospital due to Covid.

Dennis was born on July 9, 1951 to Joe and Maudine Thomas Gilbreath in Stamford, Texas. He married his loving wife, Linda Jeter, on July 26, 1969 in Seymour, Texas at the First Baptist Church after only three months of dating. They were married for 52 incredible years. They had two daughters, Sonja Bratcher and Robin Daughety and two wonderful sons in law. Dennis was in the Army from 1970 to 1977, serving in Giessen, Germany and then in Fort Hood, Texas. Upon returning Dennis received his associates degree from Vernon College in Criminal Justice. He served as a Police Officer for the City of Seymour and a Baylor County Deputy for over ten years. Then he worked as a security training officer at the United Regional Hospital until retiring. Dennis was involved with Baylor County 4H Clubs and was a member of the Baylor County Livestock Board. He was an active member of the Baylor County Cowboy Church. Dennis loved nothing more than spending time with his family and watching his grandkids and great grandkids grow. He adored being a Popaw. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren dearly. He had a big heart for animals. He loved his dogs like they were his babies and never met a stray cat that stayed that way. Dennis shared his love for Jesus through his words and actions.  He leaves behind a wonderful legacy of love and a life well lived. He is preceded in death by his parents Joe and Maudine Gilbreath, and his brother Jerry Gilbreath. Those remaining to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda of Seymour, Texas; sister: Peggy Harper of East Texas; daughters: Sonja Bratcher and husband Bob of Graham, Texas, Robin Daughety and husband Ray of Emory, Texas; grandchildren: Lauryn McElmurry and husband Daniel of Lubbock, Texas, Jordan Lewis and husband Taylor of Graham, Texas, Meghan Gordon and husband Kyle of Wichita Falls, Texas; great grandchildren: Sheridan and Kellan McElmurry, Tucker and Harper Lewis, and Stella Gordon.

A celebration of Dennis’s life will be held on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at 2:00 p.m, at the Reserve at Ranger Creek, 2000 County Road, 3150, Seymour, Texas 76380.  Arrangements are under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
