Herbert E. Propps

Herbert Propps, 81 of Seymour, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023 in Seymour.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 9, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the Benjamin Cemetery with Jeff Sedberry officiating, under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Herb was born July 19, 1942 in Seymour to Son and Avis Williams Propps.  He was a graduate of Electra High School and attended Midwestern State University and North Texas State University.  Herb married Dickie Harper on May 27, 1961 in Seymour.  He ranched all his life, working mainly for Waggoners and running the 6666’s Ranch in Panhandle.  Family was his life.  He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.  Herb was also a phenomenal story teller.  Herb was preceded in death by his parents, Son and Avis Propps; a sister, Patsy and a brother, Joe and his son, Jake Propps.

He is survived by his wife, Dickie Propps of Seymour; his son, James and Stacia Propps of Benjamin; daughter-in-law, Shannon and Jason Ewing of Benjamin; 4 grandchildren, Trey Propps, Chance Propps, Shaylee Propps and Cody Propps, a great grandson, Jake Ryder Propps; sister-in-law, Judy and Bill Bland of Seymour; a nephew, Billy and Annette Bland of Seymour and a niece, Lisa Johnson of Throckmorton.

Visitation will be from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
