Joey Dean Sturgeon

Joey Dean Sturgeon, 67 of Seymour, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2022 in Seymour.

Services will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Roberts officiating.  Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Joey was born June 5, 1955 in Seymour to Harley and Zella Lemons Sturgeon.  A lifelong resident of Seymour, he attended Seymour Schools and married Beverly Tigert on June 28, 1974 in Seymour.  Joey hauled fuel for 32 years and was a maintenance supervisor for Baylor County, retiring after 13 years.  He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and also enjoyed attending services at the Red Springs Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Sturgeon of Seymour; a son, Adam and Samantha Sturgeon of Seymour; a daughter, Angela and Donald Walling of Seymour; his favorite child, LuLu, his Boston Terrier; 2 brothers, Eugene and Suzanne Sturgeon and Rickey Sturgeon all of Seymour; a sister, Dianne and Dell Brown of Seymour; 4 grandchildren, Calleigh, Joel and Delaina, Kaden and Dixie and Savannah; 2 great grandchildren, Harley Dean and Cora Rayne; numerous nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by all the kids that grew up with Adam and Angela.  He considered them to be his adopted children.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
