Sherry Duncan Obituary

Sherry Ann (Funderburg) Duncan, 85 of Lubbock, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022 in Lubbock.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Johnny Funderburg officiating.  Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Sherry was born November 13, 1936 in Breckenridge to John and Marion Funderburg.  She was a graduate of Breckenridge High School and received a Bachelors of Science in Education from Texas Tech University.  Sherry married Douglas Gene Duncan on December 22, 1956 in Breckenridge.  He preceded her in death on July 10, 2016.  Sherry taught school in Seymour for 16 years and the remainder of her career was spent teaching in Brownfield and Lamesa.  Upon her retirement, she came back to Seymour where she was very active in the First United Methodist Church of Seymour.

She is survived by a daughter, Stacy Holub and husband, Tommy of Seymour; a son, Randy Duncan and wife, Sharla of Lubbock; 4 grandchildren, Jordan Ickert and husband, Mark of Joshua, Hayden Holub and wife, Sam of Hobbs, N.M., Macy Pounds and husband, Kolton of Post and Brady Ragland and fiancé Carlie Shea of Amarillo; 2 great grandchildren, Hattie Ickert and Reese Holub with 3 more on the way, baby Ickert, baby Holub and baby Pounds.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Lubbock, 3702 21st Street, Lubbock, Texas 79410 or the First United Methodist Church, 1025 W. California, Seymour, Texas 76380.
