Wanda Hatter Obituary

Wanda Ernestine Shumate Hatter, age 87, moved to her heavenly home on Tuesday, December 14, 2021.

Wanda was born in Red Springs, Texas, December 3, 1934 to Irvin and Nita Shumate, and sister Janie.  At age 9, the family moved to Seymour.  After graduating from Seymour High School in 1951, she married Charles Hatter.  They have two daughters, Charla and Amy.

Wanda’s vocation began with Farmers National Bank, she was a stay-at-home mom for 13 years, and held a part-time job for the Texas A&M Throckmorton Experimental Ranch office.  She spent 10 years as a utility clerk for Lone Star Gas Company and then returned to work at the Farmers National Bank until her retirement in 1994.

Wanda’s pleasures were being with family, attending the activities/sports of her grandchildren, Bible Study and church, playing Ponytail Canasta with friends, Book Studies, yard work and playing games on her computer.

In December 2019, Wanda relocated to Midlothian, Texas.  While she was happy to be closer to family, and made many new friends and acquaintances at her new apartment at Legacy Oaks, she always considered Seymour to be home.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Nita Shumate, her sister, Janie and her husband, Charles.  She is survived by her 2 daughters, Charla Pouland and husband John, Amy Wiens and husband, Kim and her grandchildren, Carley Pouland (Eric), Charles Pouland; Will Wiens, Kaci Wiens and Tyson Wiens.
